Recently a strange story made the rounds in the news: "Nahariya, Israel''s oldest city, is found to contain elevated levels of contamination from tap water." The story went on to say that tests carried out by an environmental group had concluded that the contamination came from the tap water flowing through the city''s pipes. They further added that they were now calling on the Environmental Protection Agency or EPA to conduct a series of tests on local water supplies to establish what exactly contaminants are present in local water supplies. The agency has yet to respond.

The story went on to state that Nahariya was one of the cities which were identified as having high levels of contamination from the water. It went on to say that the contamination "is a threat to everyone who resides or visits the city." The exact source of the contamination is not said but it is thought to be related to the practices used by the settlement industries when it comes to filtering
