In one of the world''s premier water and health treatment facilities, Ha''il Saudi Arabia, tap water was tested for more than ten thousand different contaminants, some of which were not found in bottled beverages. "This was a surprise for me and we never expected to find lead and mercury in tap water," says Dr. Mohammed al-Qahtani, director of the Ha''il Health Authority. "The only thing that surprised us is that no one ever told us there were these chemicals."

The tests were performed during the construction of Ha''il Saudi Arabia, an eleven-hectare water treatment facility. The facilities are run by the Saudi Water Company (SWC). The company is the most trusted name in the industry. The facility provides clean water for households as well as businesses.

According to the SWC, the testing done for tap water had uncovered a number of chemical contaminants, including benzene, toluene, volatile organic compounds and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. None
