It has come to my attention that some cities in the United States have turned off tap water in their residences, because of the "presence" of bacteria and other harmful chemicals in the treated water. These cities have implemented a plan called the "Neighborhood Drinking Water Protection Measure." This is essentially a ban on the use of plastic bottles, and other products that could potentially be used to contaminate our water supplies. In a nutshell, it''s about the "safeness" of the water we drink, in the homes that consume it.

Although this sounds like a good idea, the reality is much different. The bottled water industry will not be banned, and many of these companies are very big indeed. They will simply be required to test their waters for any chemicals, before bottling. This means that there are "chemical islands" throughout the country, where these chemicals are being stored.
